Violinist

After winning prizes in four major international violin competitions – the Wieniawski in
Poznan (1986, 1 st prize), the Queen Elisabeth in Brussels (1989, 3d prize), the Tchaikovsky
in Moscow (1990, 2d prize), and the first Henryk Szeryng Foundation Award in Monte-
Carlo (1992) – Dr. Evgeny Bushkov enjoyed an extensive solo career, performing in the
most prestigious European concert venues, including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in
Vienna, the Philharmonic Hall and Schauspielhaus in Berlin, The Royal Concertgebouw in
Amsterdam, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, and many
others. He took part in well-known festivals around the globe as both a soloist and
chamber musician. There, his partners were Boris Bloch, Boris Garlitsky, Leonid Gorokhov,
Natalia Gutman, Alexey Lubimov, Benedetto Lupo, Boris Pergamentschikov, and Stephen
Prutsman, among others. Dr. Bushkov appeared with orchestras conducted by Vladimir
Fedosseev, Erich Gerbel, Armin Jordan, Arnold Katz, Dmitry Kitayenko, Pavel Kogan, Yakov
Kreizberg, Jan Latham-Koenig, Sir Charles Mackerras, Pinchas Steinberg, Martin Turnovsky,
and many others. He has released several CDs on the “Harmonia Mundi,” “Valois-Auvidis,”
and “Discover-Koch” labels.

Dr. Bushkov was born in Moscow to a family of violinists and began studying his family
instrument at the ager of five. Soon, he was accepted to the prestigious Central Music
School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory where his teachers were Zinaida Guilels,
Leonid Kogan, and Viktor Tretiakov. He also had the privilege of studying chamber music
under the guidance of renowned musician Sergey Dizhur (former student of Heinrich
Neuhaus). Having graduated in 1986, he continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky
Conservatory in the class of his mother Zoria Shikhmurzajeva (a former student of the
legendary Abram Yampolsky) and Alexander Vinnitsky, receiving his doctorate in 1993.
