In 2000, due to a development of focal dystonia in his left-hand, Dr. Bushkov stopped
playing and dedicated himself to conducting and violin pedagogy. The same year Dr.
Bushkov was invited to join the String Department faculty and the Historic and
Contemporary music performance department at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory,
where he continues to teach today. From 2019 to 2022 he was String Department Chair at the
Moscow Central Music school of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Dr. Bushkov’s students continue winning international competitions and awards and can
be found in many leading Russian orchestras. He has given masterclasses worldwide,
including institutions such as Luxeuil Festival in France, Interlochen Arts Academy in
Michigan, USA, Cleveland Institute of Music, University of North Texas, Stellenbosch Music
Festival in South Africa, the National Center of Performing Arts NCPA in Mumbai, India, and
the Keshet Eilon Summer Mastercourse in Israel.
Dr. Bushkov has worked as a member of jury of such competitions as the "Nutcracker";
International Competition for Young Musicians, Moscow; International "Jeunesse Musicale";
Competition,” Belgrade, Serbia, and the Open Composer's Competition "Peter & Wolfe”,
Ekaterinbourg, Russia.
